Fully catered

The Bay Walk is a fully catered three night/four day Hiking Special. Where we can we source fresh, organic products and combine them with local delicacies to prepare great meals for our walkers.

Our Bay is known for its alternative lifestyle and big support to organic grown crops. In the summer months the local stalls are filled with delicious fruit and veggies all taking profit of our mild and sunny climate. It’s our aspiration to let you taste as much of these delights as we can!

Overview

• Day 1: Welcome drink, soup & gourmet platter, coffee/tea
• Day 2: Breakfast Buffet, picnic lunch, afternoon tea/coffee, 2-course dinner in iconic café
• Day 3: Breakfast Buffet, picnic lunch, pre-dinner nibbles, 2-course dinner in the Lodge
• Day 4: Gourmet Breakfast Buffet

Breakfast

It can be very hard to leave our warm and comfortable beds… but unfortunate there is no other choice… as your body will need lots of energy to control the walking challenges of the day! So breakfast is waiting for you!

We serve a great continental breakfast in buffet style that will meet every taste and appétit. If you’re more into a cooked breakfast we will provide all ingredients so you can be your own Chef and create your favourite omelette or pancake. Breakfasts are served in the dining room of our lodge or on our panoramic deck (weather permitting).

Picnic lunch

After breakfast you can ‘create’ your own picnic lunch box. We will provide a wide selection of goodies, so no limits to your creativity! Our focus is on providing ingredients with a local and healthy touch. Your lunch includes:

• Sandwiches
• A selection of meats and cheeses
• Fresh fruit and vegetables
• Pie or Quiche
• Cake or cookies
• Energy bar, snack, tea, coffee, instant soup or hot chocolate

Dinner

Two of the three nights we have dinner in the intimate atmosphere of our lounge so we can fully relax and enjoy our gorgeous views over the Bay.

On our great ‘Night Out’ however we like to mingle among the locals and soak up the ambiance in the iconic Mussel Inn café. A place every New Zealander knows (or at least should know…) for its unbeatable atmosphere and… delicious organic beers.

So no better way to end the day than by entertaining ourselves with a good ‘Captain Cooker’ or ‘Strong Ox’. We take a seat around the bonfire and meet with colourful locals or characterful artists. A memorable way to end our ‘Discovery Day” at the northern side of Golden Bay!

Cold drinks and small snacks can be purchased in the Lodge for a democratic price. You are allowed to BYO alcohol if you prefer. A grocery shop and Takeaways is situated on walking distance from the Lodge.

Buffet style

As all our meals are set up in buffet style so we can cover almost any dietary requirement.

A vegetarian dinner option is available on day 2. If you have however any specific dietary requirements or allergy, please let us know in advance and we will try to find the right food products for you.

Most food preparation is done by ourselves however we appreciate a contribution of our walkers in the serving and cleaning.
